Hormones produced and their function
The thyroid gland produces the hormone triiodothyronine and thyroxine. These hormones regulate yout body temperature, metabolism and heart rate.
The pituitary gland produces many critical hormones. These hormones help control other endocrine glands which is why it is considered as the 'master gland'.
The adrenal gland produces hormones that help the body control blood sugar, burn protein and fat, react to stressors like a major illness or injury, and regulate blood pressure. Two of the most important adrenal hormones are cortisol and aldosterone.
The pancreas produces the hormones insulin, glucagon and somatostatin. The pancreas secretes digestive enzymes such as insulin and glucagon.
The testes produce the hormone testosterone and are involved in sexual development.
The ovaries produce estrogen and are involved in sexual development.
